His journey to becoming an orthodontist is rooted in both excellent academic credentials and a deep passion for serving others.

Credentials: A Journey from San Diego to Ohio

Dr. Tang began his career by earning his dental degree from the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry. Afterward, he pursued a two-year general dentistry residency at Community Regional Medical Centers in Fresno, where he gained valuable experience working in a fast-paced environment. Driven by a desire to serve those in need, Dr. Tang completed a one-year fellowship at the University of California in San Diego, providing dental care to underserved populations.

Dr. Tang's journey then took him to New York, where he completed his orthodontic specialty program at St. Barnabas Hospital. This rigorous training equipped him with advanced skills in orthodontics, preparing him to handle even the most complex cases. Having lived in a variety of climates, including the warm shores of San Diego and the colder winters of New York, Dr. Tang is excited to now call Ohio home!

A Commitment to Service: The Tang Family Tradition

Growing up, Dr. Tang and his family lived by the core values of service and giving back. As a child, he spent time volunteering in local community clinics and participating in after-school programs at church. The Tang family’s dedication to helping others even extended into their musical talents—Dr. Tang and his younger sisters all play the piano and harp, and they performed at senior homes and community events. For a few years, they even hosted the Tang Family Harp Concert!

This upbringing fostered a strong sense of compassion in Dr. Tang, which he carries into his work today. During his dental school years and before, he spent time volunteering in free clinics in San Diego, offering dental care to homeless and low-income families. This hands-on experience helped shape Dr. Tang into the empathetic and caring orthodontist he is today.

Outside the Office: A Passion for People and Teamwork

When he's not busy creating beautiful smiles at Shine Ortho Studio, Dr. Tang enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, continuing his lifelong commitment to serving the less fortunate.

Dr. Tang also enjoys playing strategic, cooperative board games. These games require teamwork and are designed so that everyone works together to achieve a common goal—an approach that reflects his philosophy in orthodontics, where he partners with patients and families to achieve the best possible outcome.
